Victor KD-D1
ANRS Noise Reduction Dolby B NR Soft Touch Wired Remote Control Metal Tape

The Victor KD-D1 is a stereo cassette deck with Dolby B and JVC's ANRS noise reduction, it was introduced by Victor in 1981.

The main features of the Victor KD-D1 are: 2 heads, analog 3 digit tape counter, manual tape type selection with support for normal, chrome and metal tapes, belt driven single-capstan transport.

Typical front loading cassette deck with the cassette compartiment located on the left side of the deck. Tape eject is operated mechanically and the cassette needs to be placed directly over the head block. Additionally the heads can be easilly accessed for cleaning.

Level meters used on the KD-D1 are generic digital peak reading meters with multi-color indication to provide visual saturation level of tape. Soft-touch controls for fast and easy transport function selection of the KD-D1. Cue and review can be used to easily and quickly locate the beginning of a passage.

With ANRS noise reduction used in the KD-D1 the signals of low level are compressed in the recording process and expanded in a complementary way during playback in order to reduce noise without altering the tonal quality of the original sound. In this Automatic Noise-Reduction System's process, the hissing noise inherent in tape recording in the region of 5 kHz, is reduced by approximately 10 dB. The Dolby-B system reduces tape hiss on tapes recorded on the KD-D1 by as much as 10 dB at the highest frequencies.

To make live recordings this deck has 2 microphone inputs to connect microphones with a jack connector. For undisturbed listening a jack connector for a pair of stereo headphones is supplied. Connection to other audio components for plaback can be achieved by a built-in RCA cable and recording from a source by a built-in RCA cable. All main transport commands can be issued remotely with a wired remote control.
