Grundig MCF 200 Cassette Deck

This Grundig MCF 200 is a stereo cassette deck with High-Com noise reduction, it was first sold by Grundig in 1980.

The main features of the Grundig MCF 200 are: 2 heads, mechanical 3 digit tape counter, manual tape type selection and capable of handling normal, chrome and ferro-chrome tapes, single capstan transport.

Typical front loading cassette deck with the cassette compartiment located on the right side of the deck. Tape eject is operated mechanically and the cassette needs to be placed directly over the head block. Additionally the heads can be easilly accessed for cleaning.

Level meters used on the MCF 200 are generic digital peak reading meters. Soft-touch controls for fast and easy transport function selection of the MCF 200.

The High Com system (as used in the MCF 200) works as a broadband 2:1:2 compander, achieving almost 15 dB of noise reduction for low and up to 20 dB for higher frequencies, while avoiding most of the acoustic problems observed with other high compression broadband companders.

To make live recordings this deck has a single microphone input to connect a microphone with a DIN connector. For undisturbed listening a DIN connector for a pair of stereo headphones is supplied.
