Blaupunkt XC-1400 HiFi Electronic Cassette Deck

This Blaupunkt XC-1400 is a stereo cassette deck with Dolby B and High-Com noise reduction, it was first sold by Blaupunkt in 1981 and discontinued a year later.

The main features of the Blaupunkt XC-1400 are:, mechanical 3 digit tape counter and memory stop, tape type selection and capable of handling normal, chrome and metal tapes, belt driven single-capstan transport.

Level meters used on the XC-1400 are generic digital peak reading meters. Full-logic transport controls used on the XC-1400 let it respond to the slightest finger contact for fast and effortless transport function selection.

The Dolby-B system reduces tape hiss on tapes recorded on the XC-1400 by as much as 10 dB at the highest frequencies. The High Com system (as used in the XC-1400) works as a broadband 2:1:2 compander, achieving almost 15 dB of noise reduction for low and up to 20 dB for higher frequencies, while avoiding most of the acoustic problems observed with other high compression broadband companders.

To make live recordings this deck has 2 microphone inputs to connect a microphone with a DIN connector. For undisturbed listening a jack connector for a pair of stereo headphones is supplied. Connection to other audio components for plaback can be achieved by a cable and recording from a source by a cable. All main transport commands can be issued remotely with a wired remote control.
